STEPHEN M. CARLISLE, (P.A.) practices in the area of copyright and entertainment law. Mr. Carlisle primarily represents musicians, composers, recording artists and others active in the music industry. Additionally, Mr. Carlisle represents film actors and directors, television and radio personalities as well as models. During the course of his practice he has represented clients with more than 18 gold and 12 platinum albums to their credit. Mr. Carlisle is "AV" rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating possible, which represents "very high to pre-eminent legal ability" and the highest ethical standards.

An accomplished multi-instrumentalist, Mr. Carlisle graduated with Bachelor's of Music degree from the University of Miami in 1981.

Mr. Carlisle attended the National Law Center at George Washington University located in Washington D.C.. While in law school Mr. Carlisle worked as a legal intern to the General Counsel of the United States Copyright Office, and won a national title in the Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court Competition in Intellectual Property.

Mr. Carlisle was awarded a Juris Doctor degree in 1987 and then commenced his law practice in the State of Florida. Mr. Carlisle was elected as Chairman of the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section of the Florida Bar in 1992, and remains current a member of the Executive Council of the Section.

Mr. Carlisle is a published author on copyright law. He is currently an adjunct faculty member of Florida Atalantic University teaching Copyright Law and Music Publishing and for over 13 years was a faculty member of the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, where he was the primary instructor in Media Law for the School of Media.

Mr. Carlisle was the principal drafter of the Child Performer and Athlete Protection Act which was passed by the Florida Legislature in 1995.

Mr. Carlisle was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts/Broward, and received their Encore Award in 1998 for his pro bono volunteer work.

Mr. Carlisle is frequently asked by the Florida Bar, Law Schools and Film Festivals to speak on topics of copyright and entertainment law. A list of the most recent lectures can be found on the Recent Lectures and Presentations page.
